Achieve 3000

We have won the Achieve 3000 championship belt 2 weeks in a row.  This is earned when our class percentage on the activities in Achieve 3000 is the highest among the 4/5 teams.  We have been working hard to read the articles carefully and reread to answer the comprehension questions.  Will we be able to keep it another week?

A month into school and we are already writing like authors. Several drafts of our first writing pieces are being merged to make our draft the best story it can be...

Band Orchestra Chorus Concert

The band, orchestra, chorus concert was on December 12th.  We had several musical members of our classroom participate. It was fantastic to hear all of their hard work and practice shine through in the songs they sang or played.

Marquette Nursing Study

Marquette University is conducting a study that will take place tomorrow, Oct. 1^st and Thursday, Oct. 3^rd on healthy eating and exercise.  This study will ask parents and students questions to better inform our health programs.  Surveys are only shared with the study team.  If you are interested please come with your child to the computer lab on Tuesday or Thursday anytime from 3:30-5:30.

Fantasy Football Draft

In Ms. Pichler and Ms. Patterson's math class today, we had a draft for our fantasy football teams. It took a lot of adding and subtracting of big numbers to form the teams. Here are some pictures of the draft in action...

Open House

I look forward to seeing everyone at the parent information night tomorrow in room 303. We have two sessions from 5:30pm to 6:00pm or from 6:00pm to 6:30pm. 

First Day 2013

We had a fantastic first day in room 303!  A lot of time was spent going over the rules today.  The most exiting part of the day was getting our iPads.  

Here were are going over the expectations for iPad use with Mr. Kelly.

A New Year

Welcome to a new year at Wilson School.  I am excited for you to be a member of our classroom and team collaborate.  The classroom is ready for learning and collaboration.  I am waiting to meet all your smiling faces.  Hopefully I will see you or saw you at the Meet and Greet tonight from 5:30 to 6:30.

Broadway

Wednesday night we went and saw Jersey Boys on Broadway.  It was a fantastic show with outstanding musical numbers.  It was a wonderful way to spend our evening.  Here are some signs outside the theater.

The Highline Tour

We went on a tour of the High Line on Tuesday.  There were some fantastic views of the city and you can even see the old rail line.  The entire area is very serene and peaceful.  Besides the tall buildings, you don't even feel like you are in the city!  Here are some pictures from the tour.

New York City Day 2

We have arrived in New York and have been busy learning in classes the past two days.  It is great to be back at Columbia again.  I am learning new strategies and exciting new tips for Writer's Workshop. Get those notebooks ready....

I love walking out the door into the streets of Manhattan.  The hustle and bustle of the traffic and the people is breathtaking.  As are the brownstones...

Looking forward to the High Line Tour tonight.  I will take more pictures to share.

5th Grade Celebration

We enjoyed a fantastic day at the camp. We went for a nature hike and tried pine needles. Then we went fishing at the lake and caught 6 fish. After lunch, we went on a photo scavenger hunt followed by some archery. At the range, three of us hit a bull's eye.  We ended the day with some disc golf.  We had a great time at Camp Minikani!

Shaving Mr. Kelly's Head

We raised enough money from the walk-a-thon to shave Mr. Kelly's head. Logan was the top fundraiser and got to shave Mr. Kelly's hair!

Inquiry In Action

We are hard at on our projects for Inquiry Night on June 4th.  Our Living Museum of Earth's Biomes is slowly coming together. 

The Beans are Sprouting!

Our ecosystems are alive and growing.  It has been less than a week since we put them together and we already have bean sprouts and grass growing.  It is amazing that they don't need any food or water!
